As desirable as West Campus and North University might seem to most students, some can't get over the affordability of the East Riverside Community, even familes relocating within Austin. And with average home prices in the area near $160,000 and new home construction thriving, who could blame them. East Riverside is 10 to 15 minutes from anywhere in Downtown Austin and a great location for those with cars or without thanks to improvements in city bus routes. And as the area has continued to develop east from IH-35 over the last several years, there's never been more to do and see within walking distance of this community. You can find locals on any given night taking in a game at Draft Pick or standing in line for an Indie concert at Emo's. So even though you might hear locals call it "south of the river", don't let that fool you, they just might want to keep East Riverside all to themselves.
